The invitation sets the tone and feel to your wedding.  It’s the first glimpse that guests will see to your wedding.  Marleine from Paper Olive has created some pretty amazing pieces and we look forward to seeing what she comes up with next!

What inspired you to start your company?

Originally, in planning my own wedding, I had been unable to find a design that met my bold color palette while also feeling fresh, modern and still sophisticated.  There was so much white and cream out there I had to step in and design my own invitations.  I enjoyed the process so much that I started doing work for friends, and that led to the little business that exploded over time.  I love it!

How long have you been doing it?

Four years.

What price ranges do the pieces fall into?
Because my work is all custom couture, it definitely is considered upscale, with designs starting at $1000 for 100 sets of invites and ranging as high as $10,000 per 100.  Because I cater to each couple, and each couple has a unique budget, the sky is the limit in terms of creativity and price.

What inspires your designs?
Obviously, the couple—- but with that, I’m always looking for NEW areas of inspiration beyond the usual wedding-related themes.  Nature, fashion, the couple’s back story or childhood.  Even food, believe it or not.  Textiles often play a great role, whether they come from the bride’s dress materials or favorite accent pieces in the couple’s home.  I once did crocodile skin folio invites that were so exceptional my couple’s guests keep them on display like photo albums.  That news made my heart sing! :)

How will a bride be able to get her hands on your invites/stationery?

We can either meet if the client lives in Southern California, or a client can order a sample.  Visit my web site Paper Olive.

What is your goal with your design line?

To represent the UNCOMMON bride— one who is modern with classic touches, or loves bold color, or recognizes that invitations can and Should be PLAYFUL, unique and personal.  Because there are so many wonderful designers out there, I focus my attention on brides who truly wish to stand out from the crowd and be recognized as unique individuals.
