There is a big trend right now to have a barn wedding. Not that means it’s a backyard wedding by any means!
Barn weddings can be the perfect environment for a Shabby Chic wedding. They are rustic but offer a wonderful backdrop for many unique styles. I love the idea adding crystal chandeliers (Ikea offers a great one that is relatively inexpensive) and draping fabric over the exposed beams of the barn. Long, family-style seating gives guests the opportunity to mingle amongst themselves and offers something a bit less traditional.
If you are looking for a barn venue in Connecticut, you have a few options.
Tyrone Farm in Pomfret, Connecticut
The Barn at Wesleyan Hills in Middletown, Connecticut
Webb Barn in Wethersfield, Connecticut from April to early November the barn is available for functions. The barn is large enough to accommodate up to 135 guests for a seated dinner.
Here is a real wedding that Justin & Mary Marantz photographed at the Webb Barn in Wethersfield. Ryan Designs added lovely fabric draping to the entrance of the doors.
There is also a new barn in the works for 2012 in Mansfield, Connecticut. The barn will hold a maximum of 200 guests, has recently renovated (spacious) bathrooms and beautiful patio areas.
